I would say excitedly that this is gonna be the last post until I have mood to write the next post or until somebody beg me to write it again ;) I have tried my best to complete this assignments to get points as the requirement for passing this subject. I would like to thank to Pak Adit for having time to check and read the entire post on my blog and also for everyone who have read and gave the comment. Oh well. Moving on.. Let's see what we have here. You're gonna be interested with this one. So let's check it out :)
Have you heard about AutoEmotive Technology? Yes. It is a new technology that is being developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology a.k.a MIT. This technology can detect your mood even what's on your mind. If the driver is stressed or tired while driving it becomes dangerous moreover if you drive alone. Imagine that a car could understand those feelings, it might prevent an accident, right? Sensors could nest in the steering circle and doorway handles to pick up electric signals from the skin. Meanwhile a camera mounted on the dashboard to analyze facial expressions. So if the driver looks stress, the car coordinated sensors to soften the music or enlarge the headlight beams to prevent for loss of vision or drowsiness and even the car's color to increase the driver's awareness.
The goal for many developers is to make a technology as empathetic as another human being. This empathetic car is one of the example as an initiative of MIT’s media lab, who are focused on exploring the potential of emotional connections with machines. Researchers believe the concept is destined for the mainstream, and have fielded interest from manufacturers. Javier Rivera, a MIT researcher and devise leader said that they've already tested many of the sensors. The hardware required could simply be built into cars. Most cars have cameras anyway so they just have more to capture the physiology.
When this technology is completely done, the impact using this technology is for safer roads but it is not the only goal for the people working on the project though. They also want to empower greater social awareness by capturing the emotional state of a large city, providing the means to live healthier lives and create more livable cities. Basically this will change the behavior of the car to create a more empathetic experience and probably can prevent an accident. Wish they can complete it all soon :)
